Alan is currently reading Designing For Alzheimer's Disease - Strategies For Creating Better Care Environments by Elizabeth C Brawley. In it Ms Brawley describes how the disease affects the elderly and how designing interior and exterior environments may help the suffers of this disease.
He has also read Still Alice by Lisa Genova where she tells the story of a Harvard professor who develops the early onset of Alzheimer's Disease. Although she claims the book to be a work of fiction Alan is convinced that it is based on an actual woman and her family. He found it a very moving experience.
Keeper by A. Gillies is another account of how a family copes when Ms Gillies' mother-in-law is diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease. The whole family leave their life in Edinburgh when they move to a large house on a peninsula on the west coast of Scotland and all the problems it creates with family, friends and caregivers.
Alan has also referenced many other books, websites and newspaper articles in his research of the subject.
